Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease and Pulmonary Disease Competitive Grants Program (CCPD)
Deadline: 08/31/2010
More Information
The Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease and Pulmonary Disease Competitive Grants Program (CCPD), on behalf of the Colorado Board of Health, is currently seeking applicants for three vacant positions on the legislatively-mandated grant program Review Committee.
The available positions are:
The CCPD Review Committee is a 16-member advisory committee created by legislation (C.R.S. 25-20.5-303) to oversee program strategies, review grant applications and make funding recommendations to the Colorado Board of Health for a competitive grants program established with a portion of the state’s tobacco excise tax revenue. The purpose is to fund competitive grants that provide a cohesive approach to cancer, cardiovascular disease and chronic pulmonary disease prevention, early detection and treatment in Colorado.
The CCPD Review Committee is a working advisory board that meets monthly. Meetings are generally held on the second Friday of each month, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and are open to the public. Additional time is required during the grant review process between January and April of each year. In addition, ad hoc committee assignments related to major components of the program may be needed during the term of office. A committee Chair and Co-Chair, responsible for setting agendas and working with state health department staff are elected by the committee members. Members serve without compensation, but will be reimbursed for travel expenses.
The term of office for new appointments will be October 1, 2010 - July 31, 2013.
All those interested in becoming a member of the CCPD Review Committee must submit an application and current resume by Tuesday, August 31, 2010.
The application form for the vacant positions, Review Committee bylaws, the state statute mandating the grant program and the Review Committee, and a list of current CCPD Review Committee members is available for your reference at http://www.cdphe.state.co.us/pp/ccpd/.
NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants who are not currently receiving grant funds from the program and/or those who do not plan to apply for funding. Applicants who are current grant recipients will be considered, but must follow the committee’s conflict of interest guidelines. In order to reduce any real or perceived conflicts of interest, candidates for the CCPD Review Committee may not receive direct salary support, nor be the Principal Investigator on any grant funded by the grant program during the three-year term in which they serve. Candidates who work for an agency that receives CCPD funds, but do not receive salary support or serve as Principal Investigator for a CCPD-funded grant may apply. Applicants who reside outside of the Denver Metro area and particularly in rural areas of the state are strongly encouraged to apply. Advanced degrees are not required.
