Open Forum with Lt. Gov. O'Brien Reconnecting Kids with the Outdoors

Lieutenant Governor Barbara O’Brien would like your participation in an open forum to discuss reconnecting kids to the outdoors! Join the Lt. Governor’s staff in Akron for a discussion of current, local initiatives and barriers aimed at getting Colorado children outside!

From Highway 34, go 2 blocks north and turn left on 2nd St. Take 2nd St. west until you pull into the Event Center.

Along with gaining a feel for the status of what is already happening throughout Colorado, we hope to learn how we can creatively approach this issue in the given economic climate, assess the barriers to kids accessing and appreciating the outdoors, and define recommendations for next steps and goals for the future.
 
Smaller breakout sessions will focus on addressing both the challenges Colorado communities are facing and the opportunities for the future. Please feel free to bring resources and/or information to share during the breakout sessions. Your input will help form recommendations to move this initiative forward on a statewide level. As individuals and organizations around the state are facing budgetary constraints, it is more important than ever for us to work together to effectively use current resources as well as collaborate to take advantage of future funding options.
 
The meeting in Akron will be the ninth of eleven scheduled forums happening this summer across the state. Feel free to join us for any of the forums, attendance at the meetings is not limited to local residents.
